We are pleased to announce that TranScrip are sponsoring the annual Findacure Essay Competition – “The Student Voice”, for a second year running.
Targeted at medical students, entrants are required to produce a 1,500-word essay on the subject of rare diseases. A cash prize will be rewarded to the winner and runner-up, along with the opportunity for the winner’s essay to be published in the Orphanet Journal of Rare Diseases (OJRD). The winner will also have the opportunity to attend Findacure’s scientific conference, Rare Disease Day on the 28th February 2017.
There are over 7,000 rare diseases, which affect an estimated 350 million people worldwide. Despite this, only 400 have licenced treatments, and medical students receive little training in their care. Back for a third year, “The Student Voice” aims to raise awareness of rare diseases in the doctors and researchers of tomorrow, as well as giving an outlet for their rare disease experiences and thoughts.
Further information on the competition, as well as guidance on how to enter can be found at http://www.findacure.org.uk/essay-competition-2016/
